Fusion Theatre is an inclusive company based in Dandenong, in the south east of Melbourne, Australia. The membership of the company reflects the rich diversity of our community.
Since its beginnings as a drama group in 1997, Fusion has expanded into two main performance ensembles that make up the company. The ensemble members collaborate with professional theatre makers, guest performing artists and designers, to devise theatre performances based on the stories, imagination and ideas of all participants.

Fusion Theatre aims to:
• provide education and skills development in drama, movement, voice, sound and design
• use these skills, and the ideas of all actors, to make unique and thought-provoking theatre
• provide opportunities for social and community engagement and performance opportunities through theatre arts
• facilitate collaborations with a range of artists, and community groups
• raise awareness and promote an affirmative view of disability in the community through the arts
• enable and assist Fusion actors to attend auditions and gain employment as professional actors
• raise awareness of inclusion and inclusive practices for students, educators, and professionals in all fields, through enabling Fusion actors to present as experts
• support and promote the City of Greater Dandenong’s goals for celebrating diversity and working for harmony and social cohesion in the community

Fusion theatre and Deakin University
Fusion Theatre has had an ongoing association with Deakin University's Faculty of Arts and Education since the company's beginnings in 1997. Every year students of Theatre and Drama Education at Deakin have gained experience working with the company as artists, performers, assistants, and theatre technicians. Some Deakin University alumni have continued their involvement with the company over many years, including as associate theatre directors and members of the Fusion Board. The collaboration brings benefits for both university students and company members through the very different perspectives and ideas each individual brings to enhance and stretch artistic work in new and interesting ways. |
